My “Journey” Thus Far

IMG_2823[1]My “Journey of Gratitude” that I started this year has been the greatest teacher. It has taken me to places that I wanted to go; it also took me to places that I did not expect to go. Was I ready for the journey? So I thought!

I thank all those whom I interacted with this year, kith and kin. Those that made me laugh, love, ponder, cry, hate and angry. And those that surprised me, made me bolder and to stand up for what’s right. I learned to see myself through each one of you. I learned to observe myself, in-situ as well as in retrospect. When I started my “Journey of Gratitude”, I did not have a destination in mind. However, after several months of tottering in the awareness of my Journey, a destination or purpose revealed itself.

The thing that I learned so far is that I am really on my “own” journey through this short sojourn called life. Independent of anyone or anything, it is my “own” journey. One meant just for me to learn who I am. The events of my life are the schools. The people I meet along the way are the teachers delivering the lessons. The emotions they invoke are the lessons of life. How I think and react to life events and people are the processes of learning. Challenges are like exams; they keep coming. They test how much I have learned thus far. But how do I get through the exams? Can I ever get through them?

Here’s the secret I picked up…I need to know that I am a student and that I am here to learn. Right then, everything and everyone become interesting because I learn to observe. I understand context. Even I become interesting to myself!

So off I am with my Journey and into 2015 for another year of learning. I will see many of you again and some new ones! Wish you all the very best.
